Tai Lam Tunnel
The Tai Lam Tunnel is operated by the Hong Kong Highway Authority.
Application: |
Tunnel environmental controls. |
 |
Scale: |
More than 5,500 points spanning a 4.4-mile long tunnel. |
Solutions: |
UCOS monitors and controls tunnel ventilation, power management, lane control, lighting, closed-circuit TV, fire service, HVAC, plumbing and drainage, and high/low voltage power supplies.
Digital fiber optic repeaters help extend the communications range of the I/O over such a long distance. Dual Ethernet networks improve reliability.
CSI engineers also implemented a full manual control system that replaces all automatic control if the operators enter manual fallback mode, thus allowing operators to manually control selected devices inside the tunnel.
A mosaic mimic display in the control room provides a wall-size overview of tunnel ventilation and lighting, as well as high voltage and low voltage power usage. |
Scope: |
Project management, specification development, advanced application development, systems and equipment acquisition, system configuration and testing, instrument engineering, drawings and documentation, installation and commissioning, training, product and system support, field services. |
