Hong Kong Airport

This multi-year, multi-million dollar project was managed on site by CSI with a peak staff of 150 people.
Application: |
An airport fueling system that handles barge and ship receiving, mainline pump control, tank inventory, valve manifold control, ESD, jetty mainline metering/proving, interface to leak detection system, distribution pump control, hydrant and truck rack, fire and safety systems.
The airfield SCADA system monitors and controls trunked mobile radio, traffic control systems, oil separators, airfield lighting, chlorine supply, smoke/heat/flame detection, sea water pumps, ESD and battery charging, tunnel gas sensing, oil level, water pumps, perimeter lighting, tank levels, exhaust fans, storm water pumps, flood detection, sewage treatment, and compressor controls. |
Scale: |
12 storage tanks with a total capacity of 37 million gallons of jet fuel; more than 12,000 points on more than 170 panels distributed over the 12 million square meter airfield; services 12 fuel suppliers and 50 airlines with capacity to service many more; manages more than 2.5 million gallons of jet fuel each day. |
Solutions: |
The UCOS airfield SCADA system monitors and controls every mechanical and electrical system throughout the airport, except the General Building Management System which CSI also supplied.
CSI's terminal automation system, FUEL-FACS+, controls the pumps and valves and accounts for all the fuel pumped via twin undersea pipelines to the 12 storage tanks at the airport. From the tanks the fuel is pumped under the tarmac to fueling take-off points at each gate and to remote truck loading facilities. FUEL-FACS+ simultaneously monitors pressure and flow within the hydrant system while optimizing pump utilization. The system is highly available and fully redundant. |
Scope: |
Project management, specification development, advanced application development, systems and equipment acquisition, system configuration and testing, instrument engineering, drawings and documentation, installation and commissioning, training, product and system support, field services. |
