Master Station SCADA
UCOS lets you centralize SCADA functionality at a master station, distribute it among remote stations, or do both — cost-effectively and in a single system.

Traditional SCADA systems typically concentrate data and SCADA functionality at a master station. It's just too costly to develop and deploy the same SCADA functionality at both master and remote stations.
UCOS cost-effectively supports both the traditional master station SCADA model and, where appropriate, a model that puts SCADA control functionality closer to the process.
Details
Like traditional SCADA systems, UCOS supports remote polling of devices, whether point-to-point or multi-dropped. The system can communicate via the latest wireless technology, LANs, or via dial-up connections.
That's great if you need to collect small amounts of data infrequently or send commands infrequently.
But ...
- What about sites that generate large volumes of data?
- What if you must share that data with the master station or other sites?
- What if the process requires a lot of monitoring and control, that is, a lot of data and commands passing back and forth between the devices and the controller?
With traditional master station SCADA thinking, such a system is unthinkable. It would be too expensive to implement local control, and it would be too cumbersome to move such volumes of data between the master station and remote sites.
As you can see on the next page, UCOS solves these problems with several innovations brought together in a single system.
